What personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it.
Ferntree Computer Services Pty Ltd respects your privacy. This statement explains what personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it.
In short
- You can read this website without telling us anything about yourself.
- The website uses no cookies, analytics, tracking or advertising.
- We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, for example when you send a message or work with us, and we use it to respond to you and provide our services.
- We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
What personal information do we collect?
When you visit this website
Like almost every website, our web server automatically records basic technical details of each visit in its server logs: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the website that linked you to us, and your browser and operating system. These logs are kept by our web hosting provider. We use them only to keep the website working and secure, for example to investigate errors or attacks, and not to identify or profile visitors.
This website does not use cookies or any other tracking. See our Cookies page.
When you use our contact form
We collect the name, email address and message you enter. The form emails them to us so we can reply.
To protect the form from spam, the website also keeps:
- a count of recent messages from each visitor, so one visitor cannot send hundreds of messages. The visitor is identified only by a scrambled code made from their IP address, not by the address itself, and counts are deleted after a day;
- a log of messages blocked as spam, recording the time, the scrambled code and the reason. It does not include the content of the message.
When you contact us directly or work with us
If you email or phone us, book a course, or engage us for a project, we collect the details needed to do that, such as your name, organisation, contact details, and information about your requirements. We keep records of our correspondence and of the work we do.
Some projects involve working with your organisation's systems or data, which may contain personal information. We access and use that information only to carry out the work you have asked us to do.
How do we use personal information?
We use personal information to:
- reply to your enquiries;
- provide our services and training, and manage bookings;
- send quotes and invoices, and keep the business and tax records the law requires;
- keep this website and the contact form secure.
We will only send you information about our services if you have asked us to.
Do we share personal information?
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We only share it:
- with the service providers we rely on to run the business, such as our website hosting and email providers, who store information on our behalf;
- with your consent; or
- when we are required or authorised by law to do so.
Some of these service providers may store information on servers outside Australia.
How do we protect personal information?
This website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, so information you send through the contact form is protected in transit. We limit access to personal information to the people who need it, and we take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires, and then delete it or remove identifying details.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. Please contact us. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

This website links to some other websites. We do not control them, and they have their own privacy policies.
